Personalised Gifts in India: How Customisation Actually Works at Felofey

"Personalised" means very different things on different Indian gifting sites. On some it is a printed name on a mug someone else manufactured. At Felofey it means the thing itself is made for one person — chosen stem by stem, colour by colour, then crocheted or poured by hand in our Delhi studio.

This is a plain explanation of what you can actually change, what it costs, how long it takes, and where people go wrong.

What you can personalise

Three different things, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying.

• Built to order. The build-your-own bouquet is the clearest example: you pick each flower, the wrapping colour and the finishing touches, and nothing is made until you have.
• Colour choice. Many crochet pieces come in several colourways — keychains and hair accessories especially. Matching a gift to someone’s actual favourite colour does more work than most people expect.
• A handwritten note. Added to any order. We write it by hand, not print it, and it goes in the box with no price anywhere in the parcel.

What personalising costs

Less than most people assume, because nothing is outsourced. On the bouquet builder, roses, tulips, daisies and carnations are ₹99 a stem, sunflowers and lilies ₹149, and the crocheted bunny ₹199. Wrapping colour is included. A handwritten message card is ₹50.

A three-stem personalised bouquet therefore starts around ₹297 — roughly what a supermarket bunch costs, except this one is chosen rather than grabbed, and it does not wilt.

How long it takes

A personalised Felofey order is made after you place it, not picked off a shelf. A keychain is a few hours of work; a twelve-stem bouquet is the better part of two days. Delivery across India is 2–5 working days from the order date.

For dated occasions — a birthday, an anniversary, a farewell — order a week ahead. During Diwali and December, make it two.

The three mistakes people make

1. Not checking the spelling. A handwritten name cannot be undone once written, and a customised item cannot be returned because a letter was wrong. Read it twice before you submit.
2. Guessing the colour. "She likes pink" covers a lot of ground. If you can, look at a photo of something they already own.
3. Ordering too late. Handmade is the one thing that genuinely cannot be rushed. This is the single most common reason a gift misses its date.

When a personalised gift is the wrong choice

Honestly: when you do not know the person well. Personalisation raises the stakes. A colleague you have spoken to four times would rather have a nice unbranded keychain than their name on something they now have to keep.
